Welcome to Oaxaca City, known as one of the must-see cities in Mexico because of its gastronomic offer, colorful neighborhoods and its beautiful people. Enjoy the wonderful mountains and valleys. Make sure you arrive before our journey starts. Our welcome meeting is at 4 pm. After our welcome meeting, lets stretch our legs and go for a walking tour around downtown.
A day of authentic cultural interaction with real rural Mexico´s everyday lifestyle. Meet a lovely zapotec traditional cook and her family at their home. Cook together and taste the best flavors of Oaxaca cuisine. After a visit to the local market, you will make chocolate on a “metate” and a corn “tortilla” on a “comal”. Prepare “mole amarillo tamales” for lunch. Also, get to know about the traditional woven textiles dyed in natural colors meeting a zapotec master weaver.
Today is a chance to admire a nature wonder at the mineralized waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, mineral sediments on the fall of a mountain forming an astonishing natural landscape. On the way back to Oaxaca, we will stop for a visit of a Mezcal Factory to learn about this traditional drink made of agave. You can also taste mezcal if you wish.
It is impossible to leave Oaxaca without a visit to the greatest ancient zapotec city of Monte Alban. Be amazed after a guided tour of this archaelogical site founded in 500bc by the Zapotec culture. This is our last day in Oaxaca. Have a free afternoon to wander around the fascinating streets of Oaxaca city, the hidden and tasty coffee shops and restaurantes, art galleries, museums and more.
