MEXICO CITY AND BEYOND: PUEBLA, OAXACA, PACIFIC COAST AND CHILL

Discover Teotihuacan Pyramids, a 45 km drive from Mexico City to this archaelogical site. Ancient secrets await for you in this fascinating site. Learn more about Teotihuacan’s architecture, the way its people viewed the world and the newest secrets archaeologists discovered. Meet a local family in San Francisco Mazapa town, try pulque (a fermented local drink), learn about five different types of obsidian and enjoy some crystalized prickly pear candies. Let’s go to Oaxaca City, known as one of the must-see cities in Mexico because of its gastronomic offer, colorful neighborhoods and its beautiful people. Enjoy the wonderful mountains and cacti on the road during the trip. After check in, lets stretch our legs and go for a walking tour around downtown.

A day of authentic cultural interaction with real rural Mexico´s everyday lifestyle. Meet a lovely zapotec traditional cook and her family at their home. Cook together and taste the best flavors of Oaxaca cuisine. After a visit to the local market, you will make chocolate on a “metate” and a corn “tortilla” on a “comal”. Prepare “mole amarillo tamales” for lunch. Also, get to know about the traditional woven textiles dyed in natural colors meeting a zapotec master weaver.

Today is a chance to admire a nature wonder at the mineralized waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, mineral sediments on the fall of a mountain forming an astonishing natural landscape. On the way back to Oaxaca, we will stop for a visit of a Mezcal Factory to learn about this traditional drink made of agave. You can also taste mezcal if you wish.

It is impossible to leave Oaxaca without a visit to the greatest ancient zapotec city of Monte Alban. Be amazed after a guided tour of this archaelogical site founded in 500bc by the Zapotec culture. This is our last day in Oaxaca. Have a free afternoon to wander around the fascinating streets of Oaxaca city, the hidden and tasty coffee shops and restaurantes, art galleries, museums and more.

Today we are ready to leave Oaxaca City and continue to the Pacific Coast. Our first coastal town is Puerto Escondido. Before arriving to the coast, we will have a brief stop at the village of Tilcajete to see how the famous wood carvings known as “Alebrijes” are made. Our arrival to Puerto Escondido will be around lunch time and after check in, you can enjoy the beach.

Today is free for you to explore some of the most beautiful beaches around Puerto Escondido. Your guide will give you the best recommendations and options.

Say goodbye to Puerto Escondido, we will visit Ventanilla, a unique natural reserve area of mangroves on the way to Huatulco. Prepare your camera to capture wildlife in this area. We will see amazing local flora and fauna on a boat ride with a local guide. After that, let’s make a stop in Mazunte town, where you will enjoy the very local atmosphere, bay beach and a walk on this tiny hill called Punta Cometa. When we finish we will drive to Huatulco for the last leg of our journey.

Today is a free day to explore. There is an amazing cooking class or just chill at one of the Huatulco bays such as Santa Cruz, Chahue or Maguey. Your guide will help you with the best recommendations for today. As part of the last day of this inspiring journey it would be great to have a last group dinner.
